Maya was moved after her mother told her tales of children begging in the streets of Uganda. Because of her roots there, she felt that she needed to do something...so Maya's Helping Hands was born.
Maya's family is planning to return to Uganda for a visit in 2020, and Maya is hopping to pack at least one suitcase of care packages to give away

Maya is a 11 year old fifth grader living in Seattle, Washington. She was born in Kampala, Uganda and moved to the United States when she was 2 months old. She has returned to Uganda a few times over the years and enjoys meeting the people, and especially the children there.
When not organizing her charity, Maya loves to act, sing and draw beautiful pictures.
Maya is collecting money to help her realize her dream of helping Uganda's street children.
With the money she collects over the next two years, she will purchase the items for her care packages in bulk.
